Bermuda-based reinsurer PartnerRe has announced the retirement of James Beedle, the Chief Executive Officer of its Asia Pacific (APAC) unit.
He is an industry veteran who served in the role for nearly a decade. Following this, the reinsurer has appointed Sasa Hu as its new CEO of property and casualty (P&C), APAC.
Hu has over two decades of industry experience and has spent most of her career serving at PartnerRe. Most recently, she was the Chief Underwriting Officer (CUO) of P&C for APAC.
In the past, Hu has served as the Head of Agriculture, Senior Underwriter, Senior Pricing Actuary, and Pricing Actuary at PartnerRe. She started her career as an Actuary at Allianz Australia.
Following this appointment, David Xu has been named the CUO of P&C, APAC. Most recently, he served as the Head of P&C for Japan, Australia, New Zealand, and Regional Clients.
In the past, Xu has held roles including Assistant Vice President of Actuary for RenaissanceRe, and Actuary for Tokio Millennium Re Ltd., Wesfarmers Insurance, and Suncorp Group.
Lastly, John Mok has been appointed as the CEO of Partner Reinsurance Asia Pte. Ltd.. He joined PartnerRe in 2021, and since then has served as the CEO of Life and Health (L&H) for APAC and EMELA.
Before this, Mok spent over eight years at Swiss Re, where he was in charge of Client Markets (P&C and L&H) for Japan, China, Hong Kong and Taiwan. He also served as a Director for Senior Client Manager.
Mok started his career at CommInsure as a Senior Actuarial Analyst, eventually serving as National Business Development Manager for Australia.
He then served at Reinsurance Group of America as a Director and Head of Business Development. The reinsurer noted that all the appointments are effective from July 1st, 2026.
