Humanity Insured brings parametric insurance to Cambodian farmers facing extreme heat

Humanity Insured, a UK- and US-registered non-profit organisation, has announced a partnership with ARISE to deliver parametric insurance and digital advisory services to support smallholder farmers in Cambodia facing extreme heat.

Humanity Insured logoHumanity Insured is a UK- and US-registered charity backed by the insurance industry, working to make advanced insurance solutions accessible to the most vulnerable so they can plan, rebuild, recover, and thrive. It uses private and philanthropic capital at scale to provide at-risk communities with rapid, reliable insurance protection.

As extreme temperatures rise in Cambodia, farmers are collapsing from heatstroke, with many needing hospital treatment. Recovery is difficult and often leads to long-term health impacts — affecting wages, livelihoods, and the ability to put food on the table for their families.

Humanity Insured’s initiative aims to address this by introducing parametric insurance and digital advisory services to 10,000 Cambodians for the first time. It will cover farmers with land, tenant farmers, and agricultural labourers.

Depending on their needs, they will gain access to crop, health, and wage-loss protection insurance, as well as real-time climate-smart advice through mobile platforms.

This initiative will help farmers stay resilient, safeguard their income, and face climate extremes with dignity and confidence.

Last month, Humanity Insured announced a new partnership with SunCulture, bringing drought and extreme-rainfall parametric insurance to farmers in Kenya, Uganda, and Côte d’Ivoire, as these events threaten their income, food security, and access to clean water.
