Verisk, a global data analytics and technology provider, has announced the appointment of Eric Spear as Chief Technology Officer (CTO) for Verisk’s Extreme Event Solutions.
“We’re thrilled to welcome Eric to Verisk,” said Rob Newbold, president of Extreme Event Solutions at Verisk. “His experience in predictive analytics and risk modelling and his focus on listening to and anticipating the needs of clients will advance our ongoing technology transformation.”
As CTO, Spear will oversee Verisk’s engineering, quality assurance, and IT departments. Under his leadership, the team will drive continue to innovation through AI- and cloud-based architecture, delivering high-resiliency solutions that aim to accelerate product development and market delivery.
A significant aspect of his work, will involve implementing automated workflows and scalable computing resources to improve client’s catastrophe risk modelling capabilities.
Spear brings over to decades of technology leadership to his new role, having led numerous technological transformations across diverse industries.
For the past five years, he served as the senior vice president of engineering for Flywire, a global payments enablement and software company. Prior to that, he was the senior vice president of engineering for Cengage Learning, an education and content provider.
