Munich Re Specialty, part of the insurance operations of global reinsurer Munich Re, has announced the joining of Lloyd’s veteran Chris Mackinnon to expand its presence in Australia.<\/p>\n

\"munichThe appointment is subject to all regulatory approvals. As part of his responsibilities, Mackinnon will establish and build out a local market presence for Munich Re Specialty in Australia in the first half of 2026.<\/p>\n

Mackinnon currently serves as Lloyd’s Regional Director Asia Pacific, Middle East & Africa, based in Singapore.<\/p>\n

He has a career spanning three decades with experience across broking, sales, strategy, operations, regulation, compliance, and management in London, Singapore and Sydney.<\/p>\n

Mackinnon has served with Lloyd’s for over a decade. His past roles include Deputy Regional Director, Asia Pacific, Middle East & Africa and Regional Head of Australia & New Zealand, and Lloyd’s General Representative in Australia.<\/p>\n

He was also a Non-Executive Director of the Insurance Council of Australia for over six years, and Associate Director of the Underwriting Agencies Council (UAC) for over nine years.<\/p>\n

Mackinnon started his career as an Account Executive at broker Marsh in 1988, eventually moving on to serve as a Principal at Aon Professional Risks, Managing Director and Executive Director, Strategy & Development for Arthur J. Gallagher, and as Chief Executive Officer of Gow-Gates Insurance Brokers.<\/p>\n
